Lawrence is a super sweet 14 year old boy with the sweetest demeanor. He is in the Autism Spectrum, and on the first day his Mother Maria brought him in for his first IASIS session she explained, “Lawrence has never spoken a word, never said the name of any family member.”
After his third session, the two returned and a teary Maria looked into my eyes and said, “My Mother lives with us. She and I were having a fight and our voices were rising and the emotions were high. Lawrence walked up to his Grandmother, looked into her eyes and spoke for the first time ever, “Grandma, SHUTUP!”
I asked, “How did it make you feel Maria?” She said, “I wish he would’ve said I love you Momma, but I’ll take Grandma shut up!” He has more language every week, and hums and sings now.
